Very rare -  men's antique Victorian curved front frock/sack coat circa 1880s, there's one very similar in the Philadelphia museum dated 1885. There is no tailor's label. This would have been worn during the day, it has a curved cutaway front with straight frock coat panels at the back. Probably only the top button was fastened as the shape is very much like a sack jacket at the front but frock coat at the back.

• High front fastening with 3 buttons, these are all different there is one original button at the top. I will see if I can find some suitable replacements

• CONDITION
• Really rather good for it's age, there are a small cluster of moth holes on the left lapel, just on the fold and very minor grazing in the corner of the lining at the bottom back near hem.The top button hole has some wear to the stitching.
• I suspect this was used in theatre or TV as there were some threads attached to the front where it looks like a panel was stitched to it or braiding perhaps.
